FOUNDING TEAM

We’re PT Paramartha Aksara Karsa, and as of this post, formally open for engagements. This is the founding note, not a press release: why we started this firm, what problem we think it solves, and what we intend to do with it over the next several years.

Why Sorowako

Most technology and engineering consultancies in Indonesia are headquartered in Jakarta and fly people out to the operations that actually need the work. We started in Sorowako instead, inside one of the world’s largest nickel operations, because the founders had already spent over a decade there and at similar sites, and because being close to where plants actually run changes what kind of advice you’re able to give. A HAZOP facilitated by someone who has stood at the node they’re studying asks different questions than one facilitated over a video call.

Why one firm for two disciplines

Technology and process safety aren’t a natural pairing on most firms’ letterhead. We paired them anyway, because in practice they’re solved by the same instinct: understand a system as it actually operates, not as it was designed on paper, then make it safer, faster, or more dependable, and stay accountable once it ships. An HRIS platform serving tens of thousands of government employees and a HAZOP on a live production line are different disciplines with the same underlying discipline. We’d rather be one team that does both well than force a client to manage two vendors who don’t talk to each other.

What the name means

Paramartha is the highest purpose, the reason a piece of work is worth doing at all. Aksara is the script, the system or the study it gets written into. Karsa is the will to build it, the part that separates a recommendation from a delivered result. We chose the name because it’s also the discipline: define the purpose first, then the system, then commit to building it.

The company is young. The people in it are not new to this work, and neither is the standard we’re holding ourselves to. If you’re weighing a system that needs building or a plant that needs a safety study, that’s exactly the conversation we started this firm to have.
